Description
The REDBOOT® Articulated Corrective Brace is designed for foals requiring support of the entire front limb, including the carpus and fetlock. Unlike braces that only stabilize the lower limb, the articulated design provides controlled support from the hoof to the carpus, making it suitable for more advanced orthopedic conditions.
Clinical indications
The REDBOOT® Articulated Corrective Brace is indicated for:
- Angular Limb Deformities (ALD), including Carpus Varus and Valgus
- Flexural Limb Deformities (FLD) and contracted tendons
- Prevention of acquired limb retractions caused by pain
- Temporary or permanent immobilization of the complete front limb
- Post-operative limb support and stabilization

Guidelines
Choosing the right size
The REDBOOT® Articulated Corrective Brace is available in Regular and Large.
- Regular is suitable for most Thoroughbred, Quarter Horse and Polo foals, as well as other smaller breeds.
- Large is recommended for most Warmblood foals and larger breeds.
The choice depends primarily on the size and age of the foal, rather than the breed alone. The Large brace is approximately 1 cm wider at the carpus and 3 cm taller than the Regular model, while the hoof and fetlock sections are identical.
Fitting the brace
In very small foals, the top of the brace may contact the thorax behind the elbow because of the brace height. In these cases, placing a 3 cm spacer (wood or hard rubber) inside the hoof section will elevate the foal and improve the fit. Additional bandaging can be used around the hoof and fetlock if further adjustment is required.
For the best clinical outcome, always ensure the brace fits securely without creating excessive pressure points.
